A New Way to Pay: India Launches ‘Hello UPI’

At the Global Fintech Fest, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) introduced two conversational payment initiatives with the goal of improving customer experience.
Whether it’s for splitting the check at a restaurant, giving money to a buddy, or paying the electric bill, “Hello UPI” enables users to conduct financial transactions using natural language chats with their smartphones.

Bharat BillPay Connect

The NPCI has also introduced a program called “Bharat BillPay Connect” to facilitate easy bill payment via phone calls. Using “Bharat BillPay Connect,” customers may talk to voice assistants like Amazon’s Alexa to make bill payments from their feature phones, smartphones, or merchant soundboxes.

This program is designed to accommodate customers with varying degrees of technological expertise, making online bill paying available to all.
