HELM Becomes World’s First Yachting Holidays Specialist To Accept Crypto

HELM

Crypto currency payments now accepted via HELM’s Kraken Business wallet

UK yacht charter broker HELM has started taking crypto currencies as payment for yacht charters, becoming the first yachting holidays business globally to do so.

Customers booking through HELM will now be able to pay for their yacht charter by transferring the relevant amount of crypto currency to HELM’s Kraken Business wallet.

Peter Harrison, founder of HELM, commented on the decision, “We have long been interested in the potential of crypto currencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum to provide our clients with a speedy, secure and seamless service. Now that there are several established exchanges, getting and using coins is incredibly easy and convenient.”

Harrison added that the speed of crypto added to its appeal, particularly as wealthier clients tend to make last-minute decisions, a position brought into even sharper focus by the unpredictable nature of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“For crewed yachts, and this year in particular, many of our clients like to review all of their options and leave decisions quite late in the day before making a booking. The beauty of crypto is that you can confirm the booking on a Friday afternoon, securely transfer the funds almost instantly and be relaxing aboard the following day.”

HELM was recently acquired (June 2021) by leading boat hire and yacht charter marketplace, Borrow A Boat. Borrow A Boat and Helm will be jointly exhibiting at the UK’s largest boat show, the Southampton International Boat Show, from 10th – 19th September 2021 in Mayflower Park, Southampton.
