Zurp Launches Credit Card and Banking Platform with 5.00% Annual Percentage Yield and Rewards Built for Gen Z

Zurp, a consumer fintech company on a mission to redefine finance and promote financial wellness, announced the public availability of the Zurp Card, a credit card and banking platform offering experience-focused rewards. The card is available for individuals 18 years and older and specifically built with Gen Z in mind.

“The idea behind Zurp was to rethink credit cards by offering rewards cardholders actually care about and that could provide guidance about the fundamentals of financial literacy”

Powered by Mastercard with banking service provided by First Pryority Bank, Member FDIC, Zurp is offering a bank and credit card product designed to help cardholders lay the foundation for a solid financial future. Zurp cardholders build credit while earning points on purchases they’re already making to earn rewards they actually want – all without a typical credit check. In this way, the Zurp Card aims to provide broader access to a caliber of card features and points that are typically contingent upon credit scores.

“Banking doesn’t have to be boring,” said Troy Osinoff, co-founder and co-CEO of Zurp. “We’re on a mission to provide experience-driven financial services, enabling people to live the life they’ve always desired. With the Zurp Card, powered by Mastercard, we’re encouraging users to adopt positive financial habits but in a way that is engaging, fun, and rewarding.”

Zurp Card and Zurp Cash Account

Purchases made using the Zurp Card are funded from a Cardholder’s linked FDIC-insured Zurp Cash Account. Cardholders set their own Zurp Card credit limit by depositing funds into their Zurp Cash Account, and are not required to maintain a minimum account balance. The Zurp Cash Account offers a 5.00% Annual Percentage Yield (APY¹).

The Zurp Card does not have an annual fee and does not charge any ATM fees. The Zurp Card also comes with features designed to keep cardholder accounts secure, including Mastercard ID Theft Protection™, Zero Liability Protection, and Global Services for emergency assistance.

Points and Rewards

Cardholders receive 10,000 bonus points when they open an account, another 10,000 points when they make their first deposit of $100 or more into the Zurp Cash Account, and another 10,000 points for spending $1,000 within the first three months. Additionally, when cardholders make a qualifying purchase of $5 or more, they can earn daily points by spinning a rewards wheel within the Zurp app (one spin per day).

The Zurp Card is built to provide rewards attractive to Gen Z for everyday purchases, including:

  • 1x points on rent/mortgage
  • 8x points on restaurants/food delivery/groceries
  • 8x points on travel & entertainment
  • 8x points on rideshare
  • 3x points on all other purchases

Points can be redeemed for rewards including rideshare credits, access to limited edition products, freebies at favorite food & beverage spots, statement credit for purchases at leading retailers, concert and festival tickets, streaming service subscriptions, tickets to Broadway and sporting events, and even bucket list experiences like helicopter rides.
