Data Gumbo Appoints McKinsey Alumnus as New Board Chairman

Data Gumbo, the trusted industrial blockchain network, today announced that Richard Dobbs, 30-year veteran of McKinsey and former Director of the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), has joined the board as chairman.

“Dobbs is a recognized strategic industry thinker,” said Andrew Bruce, CEO, Data Gumbo. “His distinct expertise will lend structure, support and validation to Data Gumbo as we experience aggressive company growth.”

Dobbs worked for the global management consulting firm, McKinsey for nearly 30 years, including 20 years as a partner, of which 14 years was as senior partner. At McKinsey, he was based in London, South Korea and India and served clients around the world in a variety of industries, ranging from high tech, retail and financial services to petroleum, utilities and the public sector. Work included M&A, organization and strategy.

At McKinsey he was also a director of the McKinsey Global Institute where he led MGI research on technology, urbanization, the rise of the emerging markets consumer class, global capital supply and demand, corporate profitability, natural resources, and the global labor market. Under his leadership, MGI became ranked as the “best for-profit” think-tank globally. He was a co-author of No Ordinary Disruption and also Value: the four cornerstones of corporate finance. and has authored numerous articles in The Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal.

Dobbs comes to Data Gumbo after completing a double gap year sailing over 20,000 miles. Before joining McKinsey, Dobbs obtained a first-class degree and won the Metal Box and Lubbock Prizes at Oxford University. He was sponsored by Shell UK during his studies and worked for Shell’s North Sea exploration and production business. He was a Fulbright scholar at Stanford Business School and graduated from this course as an Arjay Miller scholar and won the Robichek Award for Finance.
