Squirrel Adds Intelligent New Feature to Intuitive Global Price Comparison Widget

Squirrel

Squirrel Intelligent identifies key information from main article headlines to show readers the most relevant products to buy

Squirrel, a price comparison widget that automatically gathers the prices of products from the most relevant retailers with ease, has launched a new feature named, Intelligent Squirrel. Intelligent Squirrel recommends the best product match based on the headline of an article on the page, even if there is no inclusion of the make and model data in the publication’s content management system.

Created by the team behind Pocket-lint, a leading global independent technology publication, the intuitive widget is designed to allow publishers to maximise their affiliate revenue while offering a valuable service to their readers.

Readers can view the responsive widget on desktop, mobile, and AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages). Automatic updates made every two to four hours provide readers with the latest price whenever they visit the product page. The simple and cost-effective software integration requires no complex coding and can add extra value to the publisher’s website and create a dynamic new revenue stream fit for their global audience.

Using geo-targeting technology, the Squirrel widget will seamlessly offer the best prices from the most relevant retailers in the reader’s local currency. The widget works in the UK and US and is rapidly growing in places such as France, Spain, Germany, Canada, and India.

Working with all major affiliate networks and retailers, Squirrel provides prices from all mainstream shopping channels such as Amazon, Argos, eBay and John Lewis, as well as affiliate networks like Awin and Impact.

Spanning over 65 million products globally, Squirrel’s technology and insight allows it to constantly monitor its product database to return the right products to the relevant Squirrel widget. Squirrel also offers a range of personalisation features, with publishers able to match the widget design to resemble their own website’s aesthetic. Additionally, staff can take advantage of a bespoke reporting platform that allows them to see how readers are interacting with the Squirrel widgets with easy-to-understand statistics.

Stuart Miles, Founder of Pocket-lint and Squirrel says: “Our approach is about making everything as simple as possible for readers and publishers alike. We recognise the importance of telling our readers what really matters. By embedding the widget onto a website, Squirrel not only compares prices to highlight the cheapest price, but it offers readers the best mobile phone contracts in the UK too.

Stuart continues: “It’s important now more than even in today’s digital economy to provide consumers with an effortless experience when trying to access the latest products and real-time price points. That’s why we’ve introduced Intelligent Squirrel, to make that journey as simple as possible for publishers to enable quick and easy purchasing decisions for their readers whilst delivering a more engaging on-site experience. Looking to the future, we are aiming to include further intelligence to the system like Schema support in upcoming updates.”
