Bold Commerce Names Peter Karpas CEO as It Scales Composable Checkout

Ecommerce, Payments and Fintech Veteran Joins the Technology Company Powering Anywhere Commerce for Retailers

Bold Commerce, the technology company that powers tailored checkout and subscription experiences for leading omnichannel retailers and DTC brands, announced the appointment of Peter Karpas as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Karpas joins Bold with over three decades of experience in ecommerce, payments and fintech, leading the growth strategy of new products and services at companies including PayPal, Intuit and First Data (now Fiserv). As CEO, Karpas will lead the company’s continued expansion into enterprise and mid-market, and scale adoption of its composable checkout solution. Karpas succeeds Co-Founder Yvan Boisjoli, who will focus full-time on guiding business development and strategic partnerships for the company.

Since its founding in 2012, Bold has built solutions for brands to create and customize powerful commerce experiences. Now, as brands look to make more customer touchpoints shoppable, they’re outpacing their traditional ecommerce platform capabilities. Bold is uniquely positioned to lead brands to a composable commerce approach, defined by replacing individual pieces of their tech stack with best-in-breed technology. The company’s solution enables brands to integrate a fully optimized, customizable checkout experience on top of existing technology–to drive revenue growth without the need to replatform.

It’s against this backdrop that Bold welcomes Karpas, who specializes in driving business growth through product innovation and market expansion. Karpas brings over 30 years of experience creating growth for ecommerce, payments and fintech companies and the customers they serve. In his capacity as CEO, Karpas will lead efforts to drive adoption of Bold’s Checkout Experience Suite.

“Retailers and brands want more from their ecommerce platforms as they pivot to meet the demands of today’s anywhere commerce customers, and checkout is a huge untapped opportunity for improvement. Bold offers a toolkit to convert more shoppers in more places–all without having to replatform,” said Karpas. “It’s an exciting time to join the company, as we empower retailers to solve for checkout abandonment and launch new sales channels to reach more shoppers and drive revenue.”

Bold’s Checkout Experience Suite offers companies the ability to deliver experiences that boost conversion, including:

  • Omnichannel retailers can deliver seamless experiences across digital and physical channels including subscription programs, conditional pricing and promotions, BOPIS and frictionless online returns in-store. Brands can also sell more by putting checkout at the point of discovery, allowing shoppers to checkout from blogs, social, QR codes, videos and more.
  • DTC brands are no longer limited by the checkout capabilities of their ecommerce platform. Bold empowers these brands to create completely tailored checkout flows based on shopper profile, device and location to meet the nuanced needs of their business and shoppers, and allows them to offer subscriptions and memberships.
  • Payments and fintech companies that want to enter the headless commerce market use Bold to offer a full-featured checkout solution so their clients can launch sales channels beyond their traditional websites with a full lineup of pre-integrated payment services.
  • Dropship marketplaces can sell different products through different vendors, with one shared cart and checkout on the front end, equipped with split order capabilities for back end fulfillment and shipping.
