New jackpot is highest in property’s history, besting a $1.2 million jackpot in 2022
After months of anticipation, a $1,391,967 Fortune Pai Gow Poker Progressive jackpot hit around 2:45 a.m. today at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh
The jackpot was won when a local Pittsburgh guest was dealt a seven-card straight flush. The winning cards were a 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 and 4 of clubs. The player had also placed two optional $5 side wagers, accounting for $25,000 and $3,000 of the total winnings. This is the largest progressive Pai Gow prize claimed at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh to date — and a new property record.
The Fortune Pai Gow Poker Progressive jackpot has increased steadily since it began on April 24, 2017, and this is the first time the full jackpot has hit. The largest previous payout was for $92,196.72, when a player claimed 10% of the jackpot with five aces, which included the joker, on Aug. 1, 2020.

“It’s such a fun and momentous experience watching a jackpot grow until it finally hits”
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh still holds the U.S. record for bad beat jackpots. A $1.2 million payout in August 2022 sent a West Virginia poker player home with $490,708 and a Pittsburgher home with $368,029. The remaining six players at the table each won $61,338.
“It’s such a fun and momentous experience watching a jackpot grow until it finally hits,” said Andre Barnabei, assistant general manager at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “Congrats to our local guest and also to our Rivers Pittsburgh dealers and Team Members for always doing a great job.”
Pai Gow Poker uses playing cards instead of traditional Pai Gow Chinese dominoes. It features head-to-head play against the dealer and an optional bonus bet, which triggers the jackpot. Players and the dealer each get seven cards to make two poker hands — a five-card “high” hand and a two-card “low” hand.
