“My wife Colleen was first ‘assigned’ to the Special Olympics as required charity work by her boss, the Warden of the Department of Corrections where she worked,” stated MacRunnels. “It was one of the best things that ever happened to us. We fell in love with these kids and the Special Olympics became our passion.”

The MacRunnels adopted the Maple Park, IL Police Department, funneling all of their Special Olympics Fundraising through the LETR – The Law Enforcement Torch Run, a charity event that is closing in on raising 1B for the Special Olympics. The majority of the donations raised for LETR remain in the State of Illinois for local and state Special Olympics programs.

“Our goal for 2023 is our largest ever, $250k since we want to raise money for Special Olympic participant scholarships as well,” stated MacRunnels. “There are many events in which to sponsor or participate, including participating as a shooter in the Clay Shoot, the ‘Polar Plunge’ event, the ‘Wheel-O-Meat’, or simply by donating to the LETR.”

We’re even being asked to help run ‘Wheel-O-Meat’ events in other communities.” added MacRunnels.

Chelsea Financial Services Company President, John Pisapia remarked: “We’re very proud of both Jim MacRunnels and Mike Jump and everything they’ve done for Special Olympics and Veterans in Sandwich, IL, Elburn, IL, and their surrounding communities. Now that they’re joining their businesses together, they are certainly a force to be reckoned with…Not only in charity but also in Financial Services.”
