The American Business Awards are the U.S.A.’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small. “Despite the toughest business conditions in memory, American organizations continue to demonstrate their commitment to innovation, creativity, and bottom-line results,” said Stevie Awards president Maggie Gallagher. “This year’s Stevie-winning nominations are full of inspiring stories of persistence, ingenuity, resourcefulness, and compassion.”
CPI’s Second Wave™, which is both EMV® compliant and dual interface capable, was recognized on the merits of its innovation and eco-focused purpose – to help reduce first-use plastic in payment cards and divert plastic waste from entering the environment. CPI estimates that for every one million Second Wave™ payment cards produced, over one ton of plastic will be diverted from entering the world’s oceans, waterways and shorelines. Second Wave™ is part of Earth Elements™, CPI’s portfolio of more eco-focused payment cards, which also includes the Earthwise™ High Content Card, produced using post-industrial upcycled plastic. These products empower financial institutions and the consumers they serve to become a part of the movement to protect the planet™.
“We recognize that combating the issue of plastic waste in Earth’s environment calls for a unified effort from people and businesses everywhere. At CPI, we’re proud to have pioneered solutions that allow issuers and cardholders to support this cause through a payment card,” said Guy DiMaggio, SVP and General Manager of Secure Card and Sustainability Solutions. “We are honored to receive this recognition from the American Business Awards and look forward to leading the payments industry in an effort to reduce the impact of plastic waste on our planet.”
