Now with one click, Calcbench users have access to every number in an earnings release, just a few minutes after it hits the wire, complete with period and label metadata. Users quickly fill earnings models with financial statements, non-GAAP metrics, company benchmarks, management guidance, and more. In addition, users can build time series models directly from earnings releases.

Calcbench released the first iteration of its earnings press release features in early 2018 to help financial analysts capture data and update models as new earnings releases came in. Given feedback from prospects and clients, Calcbench enhanced its press release functionality.

The importance of earnings press releases for analysts is in both the timing of information as well as the data. Corporate press releases are released ahead of quarterly earnings calls with analysts and investors. For analysts who are looking to provide guidance early, delving into press releases is essential. In addition, there’s data in earnings press releases that sometimes is not included in a 10-Q or 10-K. Financial analysts like to access earnings press release data to get a full picture of a company.

Historically, financial analysts only had access to press release data by manually collecting the releases and then inserting the data into spreadsheets. Today, they can collect data from the web by exporting it. Or, they can bypass the web and access earnings press release data through Calcbench’s Excel Add-in or API.

“Calcbench has been a leader in earnings press release data,” says Pranav Ghai, co-founder and CEO of Calcbench. “We work with financial institutions that are cutting edge and with analysts who want to get this data systematically. With our new press release features, we continue to automate the gathering of financial data, so that analysts can do what they do best, analyze it.”

In addition to earnings press releases, Calcbench boasts access to data from 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, proxy statements and more, for 12,000+ entities, going back to 2009.
