Russell Investments Canada Launches Tax-Managed Investment Solutions for Canadian Investors

Financial advisors and investors across Canada can now access innovative solutions that leverage the global investment firm’s tax-managed expertise

Russell Investments Canada Limited has launched the firm’s first two tax-managed investment solutions for the Canadian market, extending the global asset manager’s time-tested approach to help investors keep more of what they earn. The Tax-Managed Global Equity Pool and Tax-Managed US Equity Pool* are designed to provide investors with long-term tax-managed capital appreciation primarily through exposure to a select portfolio of either global or U.S. listed equities.

“Since taxes are one of the few things in life that are certain, we’re dedicated to helping Canadian advisors with a broad range of solutions and strategies to help investors minimize the tax bite on their savings”

“We are excited to bring more than three decades of tax-managed investing expertise in the U.S. to the Canadian market with the goal of helping more investors maximize after-tax returns and ultimately benefit their after-tax wealth,” said Brad Jung, president, Russell Investments Canada, and head of North America Advisor & Intermediary Solutions. “We believe our actively managed tax-managed solutions can improve the investing experience for Canadians who hold non-registered assets, and they can help financial advisors differentiate their business to potentially acquire new clients and assets.”

Tax management leverages techniques that aim to reduce the amount of distributions paid by a fund each year. Tax-managed investing currently involves one or more of the following activities: tax-loss harvesting, reducing offsetting trades, reducing portfolio turnover and seeking tax-efficient equities.

In addition to these techniques, Russell Investments’ tax-managed approach centralizes all trading through Russell Investments Implementation Services, which eliminates the overlap common to multi-manager funds. This provides the potential to reduce administration and trading costs for the benefit of investors.

“Since taxes are one of the few things in life that are certain, we’re dedicated to helping Canadian advisors with a broad range of solutions and strategies to help investors minimize the tax bite on their savings,” said Danny Kabeya, divisional director, Eastern Canada. “As inflation and fees impact portfolios, managing the tax liabilities from distributions can be a valuable strategy to maximize after-tax wealth. Our investment professionals are working hard to help financial advisors provide investment solutions designed to help their clients reach their desired outcomes.”
