Rob Swanson Joins MUFG Union Bank as Northern California Market President for Commercial Banking

Altruist, a fully-integrated digital investment platform for RIAs, appoints Pete Dorsey, former National Managing Director at TD Ameritrade Institutional, to its executive team as Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer.

Mr. Dorsey joins the Altruist team with over two decades of experience in the RIA business, working with the country’s largest brokerage firms, Fidelity and TD Ameritrade. During his time at TD Ameritrade, he helped implement a scalable, responsible growth strategy, generating over $650 billion in assets under management in just ten years to become the second largest RIA custodian in the U.S.

At Altruist, Mr. Dorsey will oversee the go-to-market strategy, as the company looks to dramatically scale this year and beyond. In this role, he will work closely with the marketing, product and customer success teams to provide the best platform and client experience for current and future RIAs.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Pete to our team,” said Jason Wenk, CEO of Altruist. “Pete launched and built his career in the custody and brokerage world, working hand-in-hand with financial advisors as they establish and grow their practices. His unique perspective and boots-on-the-ground experience will allow us to grow the Altruist platform and better serve financial advisors of all sizes.”

This announcement comes amid an exciting start to 2021 for Altruist. Last month, the firm announced former Vanguard CEO Bill McNabb joined its Board of Directors and closed its latest round of funding, with personal investments from Mr. McNabb and industry icon, Ron Carson. Just two weeks ago, Altruist also launched its new portfolio marketplace, offering advisors access to model portfolios from Vanguard and DFA, as well as Altruist’s in-house models, the Simplicity Series.

“Jason and his team at Altruist have demonstrated a clear vision for improving the delivery of financial planning services,” said Dorsey. “I’m excited to join the ranks of a team so focused on improving the advisor-client experience and to throw my experience behind the effort to make financial advice more accessible for everyone.”
