Since its founding in 2008, Dwolla has enabled billions of electronic, bank-to-bank transfers for millions of end users through the ACH Network. During that time, consumers have increased their usage of debit cards—prompting Dwolla to build a solution that addresses the growing demand for funds to be sent directly to a debit card. With the release of Push-to-Debit, businesses can access a programmable payments infrastructure for bank-to-bank transfers and offer a disbursement option for payments to be sent to a user’s debit card typically within 30 minutes.

“Business payments need to be versatile and easily accessible, which is why Dwolla’s goal is to provide customers with as many options as possible to get funds to their end users,” says Dwolla CEO, Brady Harris. “Because handling debit card transactions is an incredibly intricate process, our Push-to-Debit offering is one-of-a-kind. We took on the challenge of abstracting the card gateways so businesses don’t have to.”

Dwolla’s continued focus is on making the payment experience as simple as possible for businesses. With the introduction of Push-to-Debit, there is no need to collect sensitive card information or partner with a third-party vendor. Instead, businesses are able to embed a straight-forward JavaScript library to verify the debit card and start making payments—even on weekends, holidays or after regular business hours.

With Push-to-Debit, Dwolla continues expanding its platform capabilities by working with innovative partners in the financial industry, such as Finix and MetaBank®, N.A. to offer additional payment options.

“MetaBank focuses on delivering financial services products that create inclusion for everyone. We view Dwolla as an innovative leader and are happy to work with them to build different and unique solutions that help businesses and their consumers.” said Curtis Webb, Vice President of Emerging Payments at MetaBank.
