“By deploying Enterprise Archive on Microsoft Azure, enterprises are not only meeting their requirements for today, they are future-proofing their growing archive for tomorrow. Organizations are also positioning themselves to extract more value, intelligence and utility from the data within their archive.”

Global organizations are increasingly subject to rigorous requirements for the retention, supervision and governance of their electronic communications. With the extensible, cloud-native Enterprise Archive, customers can search, review and produce content from over 80 communication channels. Now available on Azure, Enterprise Archive customers can take advantage of Azure’s performance, scalability, security and high availability to power their compliance and e-discovery initiatives. Crucially, Smarsh also preserves the richness and complexity of data generated across all major Microsoft communications platforms, including Microsoft SharePoint Online, Yammer and Microsoft Teams.

“Multinational banks and financial services organizations need to govern a proliferating volume and variety of electronic communications across the globe,” said Brian Cramer, Smarsh CEO. “By deploying Enterprise Archive on Microsoft Azure, enterprises are not only meeting their requirements for today, they are future-proofing their growing archive for tomorrow. Organizations are also positioning themselves to extract more value, intelligence and utility from the data within their archive.”

Enterprise Archive on Microsoft Azure

Enterprise Archive uses Microsoft Azure services for storage, compute, networking and security. The solution enables customers to benefit from:

  • Elastic performance and scale. Customers can automatically grow or shrink the size of their archive as data volumes expand or contract. Resource-intense activities like imports, searches and exports can flex to use the full capacity of Azure Virtual Machines and Azure Managed Disks.
  • Geographic flexibility. Multinational customers need to store data and run services in multiple geographic regions to meet regulatory or jurisdictional requirements. Microsoft has announced 60+ regions with Azure and availability in 140+ countries.
  • Platform extensibility. Enterprise Archive provides application program interfaces (APIs) for content ingestion, data enrichment and platform administration. This lets customers integrate their archive with a range of third-party solutions, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing and analytics.
  • High availability. Enterprise Archive runs simultaneously across three distributed Azure Availability Zones, creating high availability and super durability. This “triple-active” deployment eliminates the need for a traditional disaster recovery site while effectively reducing recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives to zero.

“Enterprise Archive on Microsoft Azure provides customers a sophisticated tool set for the compliance and legal oversight of electronic communications on a global scale,” said Jürgen Willis, Partner Director of Product Management for Azure Storage at Microsoft Corp. “We look forward to working with Smarsh to drive digital transformation for the global financial services industry.”
