NMI Simplifies EMV And Contactless Payment Integration With Launch Of ChipDNA Cloud

NMI Acquires USAePay to Expand Omnichannel Payment Offering

The API reduces EMV integration work, development support, and hardware and software requirements for payment devices.

NMI, a leading payments enablement technology company, announced the launch of ChipDNA Cloud, an API that simplifies EMV and contactless payments integration for independent software vendors (ISVs), independent sales organizations (ISOs) and merchants. ChipDNA Cloud, the newest addition to the ChipDNA payments technology stack, is designed to serve industries that require seamless card present payments, including healthcare, dental, retail and more.

For decades, integrating with payment devices required the use of SDKs and device drivers that have to be downloaded on local machines. They were cumbersome for developers, and time-consuming for local IT teams and small businesses. For cloud-based solution providers, these SDKs were counterintuitive to the “no software” SaaS industry. ChipDNA Cloud was designed to eliminate these integration complexities by reducing these SDKs into a single API, ultimately easing the integration of card present payments and reducing the development resources needed so partners can monetize their payments faster.

ChipDNA Cloud transforms any web-connected device, whether desktop, tablet, Android or iOS, into a cloud point-of-sale solution – instantly modernizing older solutions to help merchants remain competitive in changing markets that prioritize EMV and contactless payments. The platform-agnostic API eliminates the need to download individual SDKs or device updates, simplifying compliance with strict regulations, like PCI-DSS and HIPAA.

“In the race to deliver safe and speedy checkout experiences as we recover from COVID, many merchants will need to overhaul their payment device strategy to support contactless card reads,” said Jennifer Sherman, SVP of Product at NMI. “For many software solution providers that means new integrations, new SDKs, new drivers and new hassles. ChipDNA Cloud removes the complexities of EMV and contactless integrations for ISVs and ISOs, allowing them to deliver a range of secure, in-person payment options to merchants who are hungry for choices as they continue facing decisions that will impact their business continuity.”
