Ryan Hires Sam Guevara As U.S. Tax Technology Practice Leader

Ryan, a leading global tax services and software provider, announced that Sam Guevara has joined the Firm as U.S. Tax Technology Practice Leader, based in the Chicago office. Mr. Guevara brings a wealth of experience in leading a national team of professionals skilled in sales and use tax, property tax, value-added tax, unclaimed property, and tax technology.

At Ryan, Mr. Guevara will be responsible for managing Ryan’s industry-leading team of tax technology professionals. He will focus on combining a broad array of technology services and solutions, ranging from emerging technologies to data and analytics strategies and intelligent automation, to address the end-to-end challenges of a tax department.

Prior to joining Ryan, Mr. Guevara was partner-in-charge of tax technology solutions and the U.S. indirect tax practice of a large public accounting firm. In this capacity, he was responsible for managing a team of automation specialists and data scientists focused on emerging technologies such as Alteryx, Tableau, and various robotic process automation (RPA)/cognitive automation solutions. Additionally, Mr. Guevara led the transaction tax systems group, which managed third-party integration for various indirect tax systems with enterprise resource planning (ERP) financial reporting packages specializing in working with Oracle and SAP. Mr. Guevara also previously served as the partner-in-charge of the national compliance center and was responsible for the technology systems that supported the practice.

Mr. Guevara was a senior tax auditor with the California State Board of Equalization prior to joining public accounting, primarily conducting sales and use tax field audits of complex taxpayers in a variety of industries. He received a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of San Diego.
