“We are very proud to have completed the demanding process to claim compliance with the GIPS standards, the global standard for presenting performance track records,” said Marc-André Lewis, Executive Vice-President and Head of Investment Management for CI GAM.

“Along with the additional step of undergoing verification by an independent third party, this was a significant project for a large asset manager such as CI GAM. It represents our deep commitment to building trust with our investor clients, to following best practices in investment management, and to continuously modernizing our business.“

Introduced in 1999, the GIPS standards are universal and voluntary standards based on the fundamental principles of full disclosure and fair representation of investment performance. The GIPS standards are administered by CFA Institute and have been adopted by more than 1,800 organizations in 49 markets worldwide, including all or a portion of 90 of the top 100 asset managers globally, according to data from Cerulli Associates.

Karyn Vincent, CFA, CIPM, Senior Head of Global Industry Standards for CFA Institute, stated, “We applaud CI GAM for their efforts to put investors first. CI GAM is an example of a leader that is truly advancing the investment profession by employing a higher standard. We encourage more asset managers to follow their lead to promote fairness, transparency, and ethics in investment performance.”

Though not required, CI GAM completed the voluntary and rigorous process of having its firm verified by an independent third party. Verification provides assurance that a firm’s policies, procedures, and performance disclosures have been tested to adhere to the ethical standards and best industry practices required by the GIPS standards. The Spaulding Group, Inc. conducted the verification. GIPS compliance consultant Guardian Performance Solutions, LLC assisted CI GAM with establishing processes and systems required to meet compliance.
