Adyen Expands Acquisition Capabilities in Japan Amid Growing Push for Cashless Payments

Adyen launches its procurement solution in Japan to help companies achieve higher authorization rates, better customer experiences and a deeper understanding of data as the Japanese market transitions
to online payments.
 

ADYEN, the global payments platform of choice for many of the world’s leading companies, announced the expansion of its procurement capabilities to include Japan. Adyen’s procurement capabilities are critical to the company’s comprehensive payments platform, enabling merchants such as Microsoft, Foodpanda, VanMoof, Breitling, and G-Star to get the most out of every transaction with local payment processing. This announcement expands Adyen’s local acquisition capabilities in Asia-Pacific, following launches in Australia , New Zealand, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, and is supported by demand from international and domestic merchants who want to better serve Japanese buyers.

The pandemic has further accelerated the growth of e-commerce  in Japan, and as Japanese consumers continue to embrace online shopping, the use of electronic payments will increase as consumers stop making cash payments. At the national level, the Japanese government has set a goal  of increasing cashless payments by about 40% of all transactions by 2025, from about 20% today.

Adyen manages the entire payment flow, including the portal, risk management, and acquisition for its merchants. This means that brands can streamline global expansion and streamline payment processes, while still meeting customer expectations.
