Brex, the company reimagining finance for growing businesses, announced the Brex API. This new open API is available to all Brex customers, free of charge. The Brex API allows customers to seamlessly manage financial information in a customizable interface, thereby saving time, reducing errors, and better meeting the needs of their own customers and vendors. For customers without in-house developers, Brex also announced a partnership with Zapier, which will allow customers to automate workflows among products without having to write a single line of code.
With the Brex API, developers can build workflows that are customized for their company’s individual needs. The Brex API facilitates transactions across key company processes:
- Payments: Brex customers can easily and automatically connect with other internal systems to send ACH, wire transfers, or checks from their Brex Cash accounts. This enables seamless experiences for vendors.
- Teams: Brex customers can easily create and manage users through the API. This allows them to bulk onboard new employees and manage reorganizations. Once employees are onboarded, they can easily be issued virtual cards with customizable spend controls.
- Transactions: Brex customers can grant secure access to all their Brex account transactions, in turn allowing their customers to easily reconcile statements, monitor activity, and create reports.

“As soon as I read through Brex’s developer documentation, I knew Brex’s payment API could save our company a ton of time,” says Denis Bellavance, the CTO of home inspection and repair marketplace Inspectify. “Within a day, I was able to automate sending hundreds of payments per week, saving me 20 hours per month of sending payments manually. We’ve also seen a significant reduction in payment errors.”
Brex’s API helped Maroo, a buy-now-pay-later wedding financing company, significantly improve the user experience for its customers. “Maroo’s network of wedding professionals get paid sooner than they would otherwise, building loyalty that will help Maroo scale operations in the US,” said Maroo co-founder Andrei Riaskov.
