Collective Launches Compass, the AI Platform Built to Research, Plan and Execute in the Private Market

Compass gives financial advisors private company intelligence, client-specific planning and anonymous execution support in one workflow.

Collective launched Compass, Collective’s AI platform built to help financial advisors understand, plan for and act on their clients’ pre-IPO equity. Selected from hundreds of applicants for the AI Demo Drop at the Future Proof Festival, Compass is being demonstrated live on the main stage today.

For many advisors, private company equity has become the largest asset on their clients’ balance sheets. There are now 900+ U.S. unicorns worth roughly $6 trillion, up from just 10 in 2010. The median time from founding to IPO is now about 14 years. Employees and founders often hold enormous paper wealth that is hard to value, plan for, or convert into liquidity or a smart diversified portfolio. Advisors, wealth product providers and wealth platforms lack the data and infrastructure to help them.

“Advisors are being asked to counsel clients whose single biggest holding is an asset they can’t value or do anything with,” said Greg Brogger, CEO and co-founder of Collective. “It’s not a knowledge gap. It’s an infrastructure gap. Compass closes it.” With Compass, advisors can access private market data, tools and execution capabilities a general-purpose AI can’t reach. Generic chatbots can only describe private market solutions at a conceptual level. Compass learns a client’s specific circumstances, identifies the best solution to achieve their goals and then helps get it done.

Research. Plan. Execute.

Compass combines proprietary private market intelligence, planning tools and execution services in one AI interface:

  • Research. Company-level information on thousands of private companies including enterprise value, per share pricing, financing history, capital structure and issuer secondaries and transfer policies.
  • Plan. Compass learns and retains client context and goals across sessions to generate client-specific analysis, including exit scenario and payout modeling, option exercise and forfeiture analysis, concentration risk and tax modeling. Compass then matches client goals with a specific wealth strategy. Every analysis is built on expert-vetted models, with assumptions and reasoning shown in plain language an advisor can put in front of a client or compliance officer.
  • Execute. Compass and Collective’s transaction team are available to source actionable terms and bids from counterparties. Covered solutions include stock sales, forwards, recourse and non-recourse loans, option exercise solutions, exchange funds, donor-advised funds, charitable remainder trusts and 10b5-1 plans. The advisor and client’s identity is kept confidential until the advisor selects their counterparty.

Today’s stage demo features a hypothetical client: a California-based CTO who needs $2 million in cash within 60 days while diversifying a concentrated position and minimizing their taxes. In one chat session, Compass values the client’s options and creates an executable plan combining a stock loan and an exchange fund contribution.

“Generating informed, effective wealth strategies like this used to take advisors weeks, many phone calls and emails, and referrals to private market specialists,” Brogger said. “We built Compass so an advisor can do it inside one session, without handing off the client relationship.”
