Katherine Simmonds selected tru for increased autonomy and an independent support model

tru Independence, a national financial advisory partnership platform that provides breakaway and existing independent advisors with the support and resources needed to operate and grow, today announced that San Francisco-based advisor Katherine Simmonds, CFP®, has launched her new independent advisory firm, Conquis Financial LLC, with more than $200 million of assets under management (AUM). Simmonds selected tru for advisor advocacy, business support, access to compliance expertise and comprehensive investment services.

Simmonds, with her more than 30 years of experience, joins tru as a Partner Advisor along with her team providing specialized financial planning and investment management services to the partners of top tier law firms nationwide. She combines 15 years of experience as a Director of Financial Planning plus 20 years in the broader financial services industry. Her passion for her clients’ best interests resonated with tru Independence, which is considered to be the “fiduciary to fiduciary advisors.”

“When my previous firm was acquired, it was frustrating not to have the same autonomy that I had grown accustomed to,” Simmonds said. “tru Independence offers my clients and I the guidance, expertise and support required to create better outcomes so that my team and me can keep the focus on their best interests.”

As tru’s name implies, tru stands up for the RIA’s right to independence and fills the gap for financial advisors who desire to lead their own firm but want a partner, expertise, and support to grow their business on their terms.

“Katherine’s situation mirrored ongoing conversations we are having with the advisor community, particularly those who are considering a change but cite lack of choice within the industry as a common concern,” said tru Independence Founder and Chief Executive Officer Craig Stuvland. “We’re thrilled she selected tru Independence and as fiduciaries, we have the shared goal of placing the client’s interests first.”

Amit Dogra, President and Chief Operating Officer at tru Independence, said, “It is difficult for advisors to understand all the options there are today. We pride ourselves on being advisor-driven, not model-driven, in how we support the advisory community. Advisors have the freedom to know that when they choose tru, they also choose how they want to be independent.”

All of this and more will be discussed at tru Independence’s Canvas 2022 Conference on October 4th & 5th. Canvas 2022 will highlight community, communication and connection and is where Simmonds and the rest of the tru advisors will gather to network and share best practices.
