Fortune Future 50: The World’s Most Admired Companies

Fortune and BCG have released the list of the top 50 companies of 2023 which have achieved excellence on various parameters.

Since 2017,  along with its consulting firm BCG has produced the Future 50, an index of companies that are laying the foundation of robust growth, along with outsizing the returns of shareholders in the long term. Even when 2023 has shown economic volatility and geopolitical uncertainty all year, these companies have shown extraordinary qualities.

Over time, the Future 50 has delivered consistently on its revenue-growth potential, with all our past cohorts beating the broader market on growth. Over the longer term, outperformance in growth translates into superior returns.

To identify the Future 50, the BCG Henderson Institute examined more than 1,000 publicly traded companies with at least $20 billion in market value or $10 billion in revenue in the 12 months through the end of 2022. They used a “vitality” index to determine the rankings. This index is based on a top-down, market-based assessment of a company’s growth potential, and a bottom-up analysis of its capacity to deliver against this potential, based on financial and nonfinancial metrics such as long-term strategic orientation, technology and investments, people, and structure.
