Karen Mayfield Joins Wyndham Capital Mortgage to Launch Retail Division

Leading fintech mortgage lender continues record-setting growth with expansion into retail lending

Mortgage industry veteran Karen Mayfield recently joined Wyndham Capital Mortgage, a leading fintech mortgage lender, to expand on the company’s digital roots into the retail mortgage environment as head of national retail sales.

“For retail loan officers, a huge part of their success is the relationships they can build in their local markets with both buyers and agents”

With more than two decades in the industry as a highly successful sales leader, Mayfield previously led one of the most successful lending divisions at Citi. She oversaw up to four of Citi’s six markets, increasing volume 72 percent in the division’s first two years. Passionate about delivering award-winning customer service, Mayfield’s division ranked No. 1 in customer satisfaction within the company for three-straight years.

“We are thrilled to have Karen join us and help build our retail network,” Wyndham Capital Mortgage founder and CEO Jeff Douglas said. “As we continue to grow, adding retail loan officers is natural progression. By combining the best of the digital end-to-end experience for the customer plus industry-leading tools that help boost a loan officer’s business fostering one-to-one relationships we are developing the model of the future.”

Since its founding in 2001, Wyndham Capital has delivered a value proposition based on its technological advantage. A few years ago, the company instituted augmented intelligence to gain efficiencies in its operations, automating thousands of menial tasks for processors. This enabled the company to scale from 250 employees three years ago to an expected 1,000 by end of 2021 and originate a company-record $5.4 billion in mortgages in 2020.

“Wyndham Capital delivers top-notch customer service for its customers,” Mayfield said. “But just as important, they have the tools loan officers need to build their business. It really is the best of both worlds.”

Wyndham Capital President Ben Cowen, who was head of originations at Citi, saw Karen’s determination personally. “Karen brings a contagious passion, leadership and successes to any role,” Cowen said. “She supports and elevates retail loan officers to higher performance. I am excited to have her join our team.”

Wyndham Capital loan officers understand the value in homeownership and are passionate about helping people purchase that dream home faster than the competition. But Wyndham Capital does not sacrifice speed for service as they have racked up more than 8,000 five-star reviews and a 98 percent recommendation on LendingTree. It’s this combination of technology and customer-first mindset that attracted Mayfield to Wyndham Capital. It’s also that combination that Mayfield sees as a competitive advantage in the retail mortgage space.

Wyndham Capital recently launched a perpetual marketing operating system designed to help loan officers build their own brand, increase leads and build relationships with real estate agents. The technology, called Wildfire, provides a unique tool for both digital and retail loan officers to grow their individual business.

“For retail loan officers, a huge part of their success is the relationships they can build in their local markets with both buyers and agents,” Mayfield said. “Wildfire changes the game for all loan officers and gives them the automated and self-service tools they crave.”
