Created in 2000, this list is one of the first in the country designed to honor, identify, and recognize the top places of employment on a statewide level. The awards program is a public/private partnership between Team Pennsylvania Foundation, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Pennsylvania State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, and Central Penn Business Journal.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process, which includes evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems, demographics, and an employee survey measuring their personal experiences at work. The combined scores of this two-part process determined the final rankings.
