Steward Partners Announces a New Board Chairman as Keith Taylor Assumes Leadership Role

Steward Partners, an employee-owned independent financial services firm specializing in comprehensive wealth management solutions, announced that Keith Taylor – long-standing Board of Directors member and Managing Director at The Cynosure Group – has been appointed Chairman of the Board, effective at year-end. Taylor succeeds Michael McMahon, who is retiring from his formal role as Chairman.

McMahon, a respected industry veteran and founder of Pine Brook Partners, has served on multiple public-company boards and brings nearly four decades of experience in private equity, energy, and financial services. His continued honorary participation ensures continuity of counsel during the transition.

Taylor has served on Steward Partners’ Board since 2019, following the firm’s strategic partnership with The Cynosure Group. His appointment as Chairman marks a natural next chapter in Steward’s evolution as the firm continues to scale its national presence, strengthen its leadership foundation, and advance its long-term growth strategy.

“Keith has been a trusted partner to Steward Partners from the moment our relationship began,” said Jim Gold, Chief Executive Officer at Steward Partners. “As a Board member, he has consistently brought clarity, conviction, and deep industry expertise to every discussion. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to evolve our platform and support the advisors and clients who define who we are as a firm. I also want to express my sincere gratitude to Michael McMahon, whose guidance and commitment have helped shape Steward into the firm it is today.”

Taylor brings more than two decades of experience in private equity and financial services, including senior roles at The Carlyle Group, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan. In his work with Cynosure, he has played a key role in investments across asset management and wealth advisory businesses, and currently serves as a director for Savat, Avalon Advisors, Prumentum Group, and Steward Partners.

“Keith has always had a sharp appreciation for what makes Steward different—our people, our culture of partnership, and our long-term mindset,” said Hy Saporta, President and Chief Operating Officer at Steward Partners. “His leadership will help reinforce those strengths as we expand and modernize the firm.”

“As we close out another exceptional year, this leadership evolution reflects both the strength of our Board and our commitment to building Steward Partners for the long term,” Gold added.
