Facteus, the leading provider of actionable insights from financial data, today announced the launch of its Quarterly Spend Reports. The reports provide a critical lens into the drivers of company performance in the prior and current quarters. These reports are made available prior to each company reporting their quarterly earnings reports.
The first group of companies featured in this new series come from the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) category and includes the following companies: Chipotle (NYSE: CMG), McDonalds (NYSE: MCD), Potbelly’s (NASDAQ: PBPB), Wendy’s (NASDAQ: WEN), and Wingstop (NASDAQ: WING). Future reports will cover companies within the Retail category.
The reports are based on data from millions of daily consumer transactions, covering more than 1,600 companies and 430 publicly traded stock tickers, sourced directly from financial institutions, fintechs, and payments companies. Facteus transaction data incorporates credit and debit card purchases, and transactions from payroll and corporate-expense accounts.
Key findings from the report include:
- Company sales performance
- Relative sales performance compared to competitors
- Average amount spent per transaction
- Analysis of in-store vs. online transactions compared to competitors
- Dayparts spending (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
- Weekly updates across all categories within current quarter
“During these uncertain times, understanding how consumer behavior is changing and how it is impacting companies in the consumer economy is more important than ever,” said Randy Koch, CEO of Facteus. “While there continues to be numerous sources focused on forecasting top line sales, understanding the moving pieces of a company’s operation that drive that top line is critical for getting a clear picture of company performance and execution. Transaction data provides the most accurate lens into those drivers of company performance. Facteus has the largest and most diverse transaction panel in the market and these Quarterly Spend Reports provide that missing piece of the puzzle investors are looking for.”
Business and investment analysts using Facteus data gain a granular understanding of consumer behavior trends at the industry level (retail, entertainment, hospitality, etc.), or at the specific company level. This transactional data offers a comprehensive, real-time perspective into evolving customer behaviors, such as where consumers are buying, how much they are spending, how frequently, and through which point of sale (in-person or online).
